Culture Club Art Competition!

Rainbows are a sign of hope, especially for the doctors, nurses and others who work in our hospitals and the NHS.  The rainbow, you see above, has recently been made by a famous English artist called Damien Hirst.  If you look closely each colour is made up of butterflies, which is an image he often uses in his work.

There are so many rainbows being painted or coloured in at the moment but can you create a rainbow in a more original way?  You might want to make it 3D as a sculpture, a collage using recycled objects, as a kind of tapestry using cloth or material or design a technical rainbow on a computer. The way you create your rainbow is up to you but it must be as creative as possible.  Your rainbow can be as big or as little as you like and made from whatever materials you wish to use.

Once you have made your rainbow you will need to photograph it and send the image to me via e-mail to  The images will then be uploaded onto our school website for you and everybody to view.

Your rainbows will be judged by a doctor or nurse working for the NHS.  We hope you have fun creating your rainbows and above all stay safe while you are doing so.
