Each Year 5 and 6 child has made a clay tea bowl. It’s been an extended project due to a slight hitch with our kiln……but the waiting has been worthwhile; we are delighted with the results. Every bowl is unique-it’s amazing how different they look once they’ve been glazed and fired…..some unexpected colours! The children can’t wait to take them home!
As part of our 'Kensuke's Kingdom' topic, the Year 5 and 6 children have studied Hokusai, a 19th century Japanese artist and printmaker. Each child worked creatively to produce a watercolour of one of Hokusai's works of art, featuring the sacred mount Fuji.
The children were successful in conveying movement and feeling in their own masterpieces and were very proud of their achievement.
On Friday 19th January, our Year 6 children visited Boreham Primary School, to listen to Danny Crates (former Paralympian and gold medallist) give a motivational speech. Everyone enjoyed hearing Danny's fascinating life story and his journey to becoming a gold medallist. Danny played a significant role in the successful bid to bring the Olympic Games to London and is now an accomplished motivational speaker and television presenter.
The Year 6s were inspired by all that Danny has achieved, despite such huge obstacles. His mind-set and attitude to life certainly reflect the Broomfield 6Rs.
