Governors
The Governing Body has the key decision-making responsibility of setting the strategic framework and ensuring the school meets all its statutory duties. Raising achievement is at the heart of the Governing Body’s monitoring, to ensure that every child receives the best possible primary education.
The Governing Body has the following core strategic functions:
To establish strategic direction by:
- setting the vision, values, and objectives for the school
- agreeing the school improvement strategy with priorities and targets
- meeting statutory duties.
To ensure accountability by:
- appointing the headteacher
- monitoring progress towards targets
- performance managing the headteacher
- engaging and consulting with stakeholders
- contributing to school self-evaluation.
To ensure financial probity by:
- setting the budget
- monitoring spending against the budget
- ensuring value for money is obtained
- ensuring risks to the organisation are managed.
The Governing Body devolves some of its work to the Operations Working Group. All key decisions are ratified by the Full Governing Body (FGB).
In addition, small specialists groups are formed to assess Headteacher performance, complaints, SEND, safeguarding, health and safety and exclusions.
